Europe's new design destination

D Studio, home of premium Italian and Danish brands

Stories play an integral role in good design.

The traditions of artisanry, the million-year long history of wood and the impressions of a specific era are all stories told to us through the means of design. The most influential members of the Italian design scene formed Design Holding in 2019 to be able to tell their story to design enthusiasts in a mutual, co-operative way. And last year in June they decided to found their first, grand scale showroom to provide their clients with a true design experience. This is D Studio where the premium products of Italian and Danish brands make up an electric, conceptual interior full of life. The idea is especially dear to us, as the interiors of S/ALON BUDAPEST are born in a similar approach: instead of singular brand appearances, fully furnished installations showcase the wide range of possibilities in interior design. Read on and find out which brands exactly feature in this extraordinary concept, and why it’s a place that no design lover should miss.

The city of Copenhagen became ground zero for a brand new design initiative in June 2021: the first complex of D Studio was founded to bring the most outstanding Italian and Danish brands together for a very specific reason.

“The idea behind D Studio is the same in all locations, to create a unique design retail destination."

But D Studio is more than just a simple showroom, where premium products line-up out of context. The best of Italian and Danish design helps clients

“understand the full potential of the range of products available from iconic names that make up Design Holding.”

Thus, brands work together to produce the modern face of European design.

At first glance, the two cities that are home to separate D Studio stores, Milan and Copenhagen, couldn’t be more different. According to the studio, “the paths and aesthetic might be different [in these cities] but the passion and commitment for good design is the same.” This doesn’t mean, though, that the Italian and Danish centers of D Studio share the exact same design concept.

“For instance in Copenhagen, these brands have taken a traditional Danish architectural context and reimagined Scandinavian luxury, by merging Italian flair with local culture and taste.”

As mentioned before, the founders of D Studio dreamed beyond the prospect of a furniture showroom, rather, it’s intended to be a cultural hub and meeting point for design lovers and professionals working and living in their respective hometowns. The curated, energetic and colorful products of premium design brands provide the perfect backdrop for this aim, including B&B Italia, Flos, Louis Poulsen, Maxalto, Azucena and Arclinea. Similar to the aforementioned cities, these diverse brands are also connected by their shared values and strong design traditions.

As they put it, D Studio “offers lighting and furniture products, combining contemporary, innovative and sophisticated design with the uniqueness of each brand’s craftsmanship and heritage. All these brands have a strong common background: passion for design. From B&B Italia, a byword for contemporary design with history, to Maxalto’s lifestyle collection based on craftsmanship and timeless elegance, to Arclinea which is synonymous with highly advanced, customized kitchens; through to visionary Italian lighting manufacturer Flos, with its masterful, poetic designs and forward-thinking solutions, and last but not least, Louis Poulsen, the iconic Danish lighting brand with its unique design traditions.”

After taking over Milan and Copenhagen, D Studio plans to go on a world tour: a new complex is expected to open next year in 2022 in the United States, bringing the best of European design to the other side of the Atlantic. And if you wish to explore Italian and Danish design traditions in person, check out Hungarian CODE Showroom, where products of B&B Italia, Arclinea and a number of premium brands are available to see and experience. The same goes for S/ALON BUDAPEST that is expected to bring the works of the most essential Hungarian and international interior and furniture designers to the Budapest Arena this year again. Let’s meet between September 23-25, 2022!
